You weren’t expecting it to feel like this…

You’re preparing for a C-section, or maybe you’ve already had one, and you thought you’d feel more ready than you do. You’ve read a few things, maybe even spoken to your care team… but you’re still not quite sure what recovery will actually look like.

How will you care for your baby while you’re healing?

What will those first few weeks really feel like?

Or maybe your baby is a few months old now, and you find yourself googling all the things at 3am when you could be sleeping.

Will I ever go back to feeling like my ‘normal self?’

How am I meant to comfort and care for my baby, and also get things done?!

How do I stop feeling so overwhelmed all the time?

No-one has walked you through these things in a way that feels clear, practical, and reassuring. You’re left trying to piece it all together yourself, and follow all the ‘rules’ that you’ve heard from other people and the accounts you follow on social media. You know the ones – “Your baby should be sleeping through the night from 6 months old,” “Don’t carry your baby too much as they’ll come to rely on it,” “Your baby is 3/6/9/12 months old, you should have it all figured out by now”…

Spoiler alert: All of this ‘advice’ needs to go in the bin!

You deserve to feel prepared, not uncertain

I created OT in Motherhood to support women through the transition into motherhood. I focus on evidence-based guidance, holistic care, and practical tools that are actually usable. I want to help you to recover after birth, care for your baby with confidence, and feel supported in everyday life.

Because it isn’t just about getting through birth. Motherhood is about how you live in the days and weeks after!

Hi, I’m Kristy

I’m an Occupational Therapist (OT), wife, Mum of three, and all of my babies were born via C-section. This means I understand the c-section experience from both sides.

I know what it’s like to prepare for a birth that may not look the way you imagined.
I know the physical reality of recovering from surgery while caring for a newborn.
And I understand the emotional side too—the disappointment, the questions, and the reality that things end up being harder than you expected.

I’ve also navigated issues with breastfeeding, learning to juggling the needs of 3 young children while also trying not to neglect myself, adapting to the new role of Motherhood and all of its demands, feeling overwhelmed by alllll the noise all the time… Oh, and let’s not forget the lack of sleep over the last 7 years!

Even with my background as an OT, I still found parts of recovery and early motherhood challenging. Let’s be honest, I still do sometimes!

And that’s what made me realise:

Women aren’t lacking strength or capability, or even knowledge.

They’re lacking the right kind of preparation, support, and emphasis on recovery.

OT in Motherhood

A different kind of support

As an Occupational Therapist, I don’t just look at recovery in terms of healing — I look at your whole life.

How you move through your day.
How you care for your baby.
How your home environment supports (or hinders) you.
How you’re coping physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Being well in Motherhood isn’t just about your body—it’s about your ability to function, feel well, and adjust to this new season of life. You absolutely deserve to thrive in Motherhood.

How I support you

Through my work, I support mothers online to:

  • Plan and prepare for a C-section birth
  • Optimise their recovery in the postpartum period
  • Navigate the physical and emotional demands of motherhood
  • Create sustainable routines and rhythms
  • Care for their baby in ways that feel manageable and supported (including babywearing)

And over time, this space will continue to grow – because motherhood doesn’t stop at recovery after birth. Postpartum is forever!
